On 21 February, our partner in the Labour Law Department, María Royo, was awarded “Lawyer of the Year” in the “Top Management” category at the Iberian Lawyer Labour Awards 2025. This prestigious event recognises the achievements of the leading lawyers, firms, and companies in the field of Labour Law in Spain and Portugal.
Thanks to her distinguished career and extensive experience, María Royo was nominated in four categories:
- Non-contentious & Advisory.
- Top Management (award received).
- Restructuring and Reorganisations.
- M&A and Employment-related Issues.
AGM Abogados was also nominated in the same four categories, achieving a total of eight nominations, reflecting the firm’s high level of specialisation and strong commitment to legal excellence.
Ultimately, María was recognised as Lawyer of the Year in the Top Management category. The jury members highlighted that María “is highly regarded in the market for her ability to coordinate the legal aspects of sensitive dismissals. Her attention to detail and her problem-solving approach makes her a trusted advisor in the field”.
Maria is an employment lawyer specialising in strategic advice to companies and start-ups, senior management, restructuring and collective dismissals, litigation and employment-related M&A. She is also a member of several associations, including the Spanish Forum of Labour Lawyers (FORELAB), International Bar Association (IBA), European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA), International Employment Lawyers Association (IELA) and the National Association of Labour Lawyers (ASNALA).
